Alfredo De Massis (Free University of Bolzano and IMD Business School’s Wild Group Chair in Family Business) is a Professor of Entrepreneurship & Family Business who serves as adviser to entrepreneurial families and policy makers. As one of the leading family business academics globally, Alfredo has been included in Family Capital’s list of Top 100 Family Business Influencers in February 2022, for the strong influence of his thought leadership on the global shaping of the family business field, and in September 2022 he has been inducted into The Family Business Hall of Fame recognizing exceptional individuals within the family business sector.
His research has been published in the leading academic and practitioner journals (e.g., AMJ, OrgSci, JoM, SMJ, JMS, JBV, ETP, MIT SMR), cited more than 19,500 times, published by the European Commission as scientific and technical reports, cited in policy reports and featured in the media. He serves as Editor of Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Associate Editor of Family Business Review, editor of other academic journals, and on the boards of public and private organizations internationally. He is a recipient of several academic honors and awards (the last one being the Barbara Hollander Award from FFI) and received various research grants from public funding bodies and private organizations.
He has co-founded and serves as Chairman of the International Advisory Board of the first Observatory on Family Offices in Italy. His latest book, “The Family Business Book. A roadmap for entrepreneurial families to prosper across generations,”co-authored with Emanuela Rondi, will be published with Pearson Financial Times at the beginning of 2024.
