Josip Kotlar is Full Professor of Strategy, Innovation and Family Business at the School of Management of the Politecnico di Milano, founder of the Innovation & Strategy research group and member of the Scientific Committee and Energy & Strategy.

His research addresses pressing questions in strategy and innovation management, focusing primarily on family businesses and entrepreneurial families. On these topics, he has published more than 50 articles in international academic journals, receiving more than 7,000 citations, numerous awards and frequent mentions in the media.

He is Associate Editor of Family Business Review and President of the International Family Enterprise Research Academy (IFERA), where he fosters global collaboration and knowledge exchange among family business researchers. At Politecnico di Milano, he has founded the Observatories Family Office and Open Innovation Lookout. His work aims to help entrepreneurs, families, managers and professionals develop strategies that leverage innovation to create value for the long term.
